Challenge

A key player in the data dissemination market wanted to improve the usability / scalability of their web-based product to permit easier access to massive databases.

Insight

Creating a user interface architecture consistent with user tasks could ease navigation, optimize use of screen real estate, and optimize visualization of large datasets.

Solution

Our user-centred design approach led to a redesign using tab-based navigation and menus that maximized the screen area available for data display.

Impact

The modifications increased amount of data that could be displayed by 250-500%, permitted users to jump directly to the data of interest, and simplified the process for selecting data to view.
