Challenge

A major government web site wanted to offer “deep links” from their web pages to related resources off-site. But deep links are time-consuming to maintain.

Insight

Taking a “broker-based”, 3rd-party approach would achieve the desired result with minimal maintenance.

Solution

We conducted focus groups and prototyping of Web services to demonstrate the user experience and laid the groundwork for a business case justification.

Impact

The context-aware links minimize the amount of surfing required and significantly reduce the number of page-loads from the servers. Potential for cost saving are huge, but the improved user experience is the real payback.
